PCUMC Coronavirus Update #4
To provide some opportunity for social spacing and for our leaders to address the Coronavirus, we will not be having worship services or social gatherings in our building until at least the end of March. We will evaluate things for the weeks after that before the end of March. Ministry will be happening, just not the same way.
Giving Thanks in all Things
Giving thanks during difficult times is an act of faith and obedience. It means we trust God, no matter what. I am thankful for Betsieβs act of obedience, meanwhile thanking God for the fleas and lice.

Our continuing response to the Coronavirus crisis
Our government is asking us to eliminate unnecessary gatherings of people to slow and reduce the spread of this terrible virus. Because of this request, I am suspending all gatherings at the Pendleton Center and First United Methodist Churches except needed leadership meetings through Sunday, March 22.
Finding Peace in the Midst of Anxiety
The apostle Paul said in Philippians 4:8, βFinally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.β
This is much more than an optimistic quote from Scripture.
Our churchβs response to the Coronavirus crisis
As a faith community, we are following the guidelines the government has established for organizations like ours. We are using sanitizers, making sanitizing lotions available, and encouraging reasonable social distancing.

What Is Lent?
Lent is a season of the church when Christians are encouraged to focus more seriously on our faith. Fasting, reading scripture, prayer and examining our ethical life are regular practices we focus on more during Lent.
