PCUMC Coronavirus Update #4
Pastor Tom is continuing his Wednesday night Bible study online. The study will be on passages from the exile period of Israel’s history. We are also having worship online each week and a prayer time every night at 9:00 PM. We are aware that not everyone is online. That is part of the reason you are receiving this letter. If you know someone not able to go online, and they would like a DVD or other material from the church, please contact the church at 716-625-8306 or [email protected].
We are trying to keep a presence in our Pendleton office. It is not full-time, and it is not fully staffed. However, we are trying to have someone present from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM weekdays to take deliveries, mail, and to answer the phone or check phone messages. For safety reasons, we are asking people to refrain from stopping by the church. The doors are locked. If you have a pastoral emergency, you can reach our emergency contact phone at 716-291-7529.
Stay safe by practicing physical distancing as much as possible. But stay connected and socially close to each other and God. Remember what that young shepherd boy wrote thousands of years ago when he was alone, out in a frightening field at night:
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he restores my soul. He guides me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare for me a table in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Psalm 23
