Not All Who Wander Are Lost
JRR Tolkien writes, “Not all who wander are lost.” You can find shirts with this quote wherever interesting t-shirts can be found. As you know, I have been traveling these last couple of weeks, and some of it looks like wandering. I’m very appreciative for Google Maps to keep me from being lost in my wandering. I am grateful for the time to be on my own pilgrimage of sorts.
Lent begins on March 2 with Ash Wednesday. Lent is a time of reflection, soul-searching, and taking stock of our lives. For thousands of years, religious people have made journeys of the heart as a way of gaining perspective and insight, with pilgrimages of many different kinds.
Inspired by passages in the scriptures that talk about life’s journeys, roads, and pathways, we will make our “way” together through this poignant season. The movie The Way accompanies us as our modern-day inspiration to live the life we’ve been given to the fullest.
Each of us travels our own journey - and we also travel together. Walk with me this Lent. Our licenses allow us to share clips from the movie The Way, but we can’t show the whole movie. If you can find it and watch it - wonderful. (We’ve provided ways for you to find it here.) In the meantime, let’s get ready to be on a pilgrimage together, seeking God and finding the words and ways God guides us to.
Peace for the journey,
Pastor Cathy Stengel
