For God So Loved The World
I am attending Discipleship I classes. The training begins in the book of Genesis and continues through the book of Revelation. While studying the Old Testament, we can see the foreshadowing of the coming of the Messiah. The sacrifice of a lamb’s blood was the atonement for sin at that time. The fact is: “For God so love the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) Jesus became the sacrificial lamb and shed His blood (became the atonement) for our sins. He paid the debt He did not owe, a debt we could never pay.
Jesus became flesh and dwelt among us, first as a babe in the manger, then as our risen Savior. The story of the birth of Jesus never gets old. Each year the anticipation grows again as we wait with expectancy to celebrate God’s love for us. He gave His best for our salvation; we need to give Him our best – our hearts!
