A Welcome from Pastor Cathy

Dear friends and members,

Thank you for the warm gift of hospitality as we have prepared for this day when I begin as one of your new pastors. Thank you for the notes and introductions. Surely, we never imagined that we would be meeting this way. I know that these months have been so hard on so many.

I can’t wait to get to know you, to hear what God has been doing in your lives and how God has cared for you in these past months. I hope that we can find ways to be together, whatever that might look like in the coming weeks.

I have a couple of questions for you – you can think about them until we find ourselves together:

1.   What are you hoping I will do as one of your new pastors?

2.   What are you really hoping I WON’T do?

3.   What do you imagine God would hope for us as a congregation?

Finally – I offer this prayer of thanksgiving –

Gift-giving God, fill us with gratitude this day:
Gratitude of heart that we might see the gifts of another.
Gratitude of mouth that we might sing their praises.
Gratitude of spirit that we might recognize the blessings you have brought us.
Gratitude of humor as we perceive the playfulness of your giving.
Gratitude of eyes that we might deeply draw on the wonders of your created world and know our parts in its family.
Gratitude of open hands for all that You will place in them this day.
Gratitude of memory for our stories which you have covered with tenderness and mercy.
Gratitude of feet for every step we take this day might be a gift.

I am so grateful that we get to walk this road together.

Surely God has called us together for such a time as this.

With love in Christ,

Pastor Cathy
