Change Is Coming
John preached repentance. We don’t use the word repent in common speech much anymore; it has been relegated to religious settings. Instead we use the word change. As in, that person needs a change of heart. I like the word repent, but the word is not as important as what it means.

Clearly the most watched television event in our nation is the Super Bowl. The event with the most participation and spending, is unquestionably Christmas. For some people it is very individual in a particular year such as graduation from school, retirement, the birth of a child, or a wedding.

What Is Lent?
Lent is a season of the church when Christians are encouraged to focus more seriously on our faith. Fasting, reading scripture, prayer and examining our ethical life are regular practices we focus on more during Lent. It is based in the number forty. Which includes the forty days it rained for Noah, the forty years the Israelites spent in the desert, and the forty days Jesus spent in the wilderness.
Why Ashes? Connecting To Who We Are And Who We Can Be
One Wednesday a year, sometime in February or March, you notice someone at work, school, or elsewhere with a smudge on her forehead. It looks as if she missed a spot when washing.
