From The Pastor's Desk - Summer 2016

For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities – his eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. -Romans 1:20

With summer comes more opportunities to be outside and admiring the beauty of the created world. When we see a flaming sunset, the lush greenery of grass and trees, the glassy water of a calm lake, or mountains cloaked in morning mist, we are filled with awe once again at God’s handiwork, power, and love.

The deer are clothed in their russet summer coats. The songbirds have returned to sing us awake at dawn. There are starlit nights, rainbows after a storm, thousands of flowers in bloom, and fields of wheat and corn quickly climbing toward the sun. How wondrously they are made!

The local strawberries are out on the roadside stands, and I just can’t get enough of them! The smell of fresh-cut hay is filling the air. Drops of dew sparkle on an intricate spider’s web, changing it into a necklace of diamonds in the sun. Fuzzy goslings march along behind their parents, headed for the pond. Young foals gallop and kick up their heels in a pasture. Seed pods from the cotton wood tree have burst forth and left piles of “snow” on the green grass.

There are more beautiful sights, sounds, smells, tastes, and feelings than I can possibly tell. God in his creative wonder has made them all. And we are allowed to enjoy them! This summer, take time to discover and cherish the beauty of this world. Thanks be to God!
