From the Pastor's Desk - Summer 2015

Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10: 23-25

I have been reading about cars that will drive themselves, solar powered houses, instant choice entertainment, cures for incurable diseases, smart homes, and all the other amazing promises of the near future. They are even working on a tube you can get in and be transported at 700 miles an hour to your destination. It sounds fantastic. In light of all the changes I have seen in my short life, it seems very possible. I hope to live to see it.

Pearly gates, streets of gold, a river with the tree of life. In many ways the promise of glory is fantastic. It’s hard for us to imagine what it will be like. The Bible in Revelation says, “We will be his people, and God himself will be with us and be our God. He will wipe every tear from our eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

Hope in the future helps us get through each day. It seemed like only yesterday we were suffering though the longest winter. But we knew this summer would happen. It can be so easy to get discouraged in the midst of our struggles. But God has an amazing future planned for us. Hold on to the promise. God has amazing things planned for all of us.

If we can have hope in gadgets and the ingenuity of people, shouldn’t we even more so have hope in the Lord? He has promised it, He will make it happen. So do good where you can, worship God, and live your life in hope. Something amazing is coming! I wonder where the WiFi connections will be in glory?

Have a great summer,
Pastor Tom
