For All He's Done For You...
This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. -1 John 4
For All He's Done For You...
Many years ago when I was a lot younger, I was visiting my Mom and Dad. As I was leaving, my Dad asked if I could help him move a couch sometime. I said I would be glad to when I wasn’t so busy. He was fine with that, but as I walked out the driveway, a neighbor came up to me and said, “With all that he’s has done for you, I can’t believe you didn’t jump at the chance to help him. I’m ashamed of you. I wish I still had my Dad alive to help now.” Wow! Talk about feeling small. I turned around, went right back in and asked Dad when he wanted the couch moved. I have no idea what I thought at the time was more important than helping my Father, but “I wish I still had a Dad to help now.”
It is so easy to get caught up in the busyness of life and forget what really matters. A lifetime of helping our parents will never repay them for the diapers changed, the food fed, the advice given....the list goes on. We never really appreciate the opportunity to be with them until we don’t have it any longer.
God gave us life. He gifted us with talents for all the successes we will ever have. He loves us when we are unlovable. He quiets our soul when no one else seems to care. God has always been there, and God is the source of all we are. When we spend time with God, give to God, listen to God...we feel better, stronger, happier. But we get busy. Distracted. We don’t have time for God. We resent His expectations around our money, our family, our behaviors and our time. We tell Him we will be glad to do what He wants when we’re not so busy.
