Divorce Care Offered Online
The pain of a divorce can be devastating. It can take a long time to heal that pain, but anyone going through a divorce can find hope in the encouragement, answers, and friendship at the DivorceCare group. Samaritan Counselor Lori Jagow will facilitate this interactive online program in a private online group through Pendleton Center United Methodist Church (PCUMC). Our church is located at 6864 Campbell Blvd., North Tonawanda, NY 14120.
DivorceCare is for people considering divorce, going through divorce now, or are still in need of support years after a divorce. People in the aftermath of a marital breakup can begin attending at any time. “People facing the trauma of divorce need help right away,” said Steve Grissom, founder and president of DivorceCare/Church Initiative. “With DivorceCare, the emergency room is always open.”
As an experienced Christian Counselor, Lori Jagow understands the need for DivorceCare, having gone through a divorce herself in 1993. “I felt as though my entire world was shattered at the time of my divorce, and I lost all hope for the future,” stated Lori. “Today, all my bitterness and anger are replaced with forgiveness and hope. There is life after divorce.”
Seeking marital counseling and ministries that can assist in marriage restoration should always be the first course of action. However, if you have suffered a divorce and have taken all action to prevent it, the next step is healing for the entire family.
DivorceCare offers teaching based on ageless truths found in the Bible. This Christ-centered material works from the heart of the issue, guiding participants to true healing and hope.
DivorceCare group participants gain counsel and encouragement through video teaching, small group discussion, and weekly scripture study. Each group session includes a 35-minute video presentation featuring insights from respected Christian experts on divorce-related topics. Participants then spend time discussing with other people who truly understand the tough issues of divorce and separation.
Topics discussed include:
How to recognize, face and cope with difficult emotions (such as loneliness, anger, bitterness, depression, shame)
Financial survival
How to help your children through the changes
The possibility of reconciliation
What to do about new relationships
Experiencing God’s comfort and help
The first session will begin on Wednesday, October 21 at 7:00 PM. Register online here. There is a $20 registration fee, which includes a workbook. All sessions will be held online in a private group.
